As a kid I remember the big sun tea craze. You would fill a large pourable container with fresh water, tea, and sometimes add in a few fruit slices or spices to the mix, then let it sit in the sun for most of the day. After that it was considered “done” and ready to pour over a tall glass of ice for sipping outside on a hot summer day. It was a whole process just to get the tea the way you wanted it and it seemed to be an effort but one that brought you to a place of relaxation.
Moonshine Sweet Tea is brewed and bottled fresh and has already done all of the work for you. It’s a sweet tea that is concentrated and all that’s left to do is pour it in with some water over ice. One can be having a hectic day but there’s something about this tea that brings me back to those days of sunshine and sippin’ on the porch. Moonshine Sweet Tea graciously gave me a bottle recently to try out and play with for a few recipes and I made these Grilled Sweet Tea Shrimp Tacos. Grilled sweet tea soaked shrimp and set over an easy sweet tea cabbage slaw with fresh avocado, cilantro and grilled lemons gets me in the mood for some hot, lazy days that are not that far away here in Texas.
