Ingredients
for the lamb burgers
  • 1 pound fresh ground lamb
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh cilantro – chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh mint – chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh green onion – chopped
  • 1 Tablespoons cayenne pepper powder
  • 1 medium clove garlic – minced or pressed
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 Tbs olive oil
  • 4-6 pieces lettuce for serving
  • 4-6 small burger or slider buns for serving
for the yogurt sauce
  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 2 Tablespoons ground cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions
for the burgers
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients except olive oil. Once combined with wet hands form into either into 4 large burger patties or 6 slider patties. Once lamb is formed brush with olive oil and set aside.
  2. Brush or spray grill with a Tablespoon of olive oil then preheat grill to medium high temperature. Once warm place lamb patties onto the grill and cook on each side for 4-6 minutes or until lightly golden on each side. Once cooked through or to desired temperature, remove from the grill to assemble the burgers.
  3. Spread yogurt sauce on both the top and the bottom half of the bun. Add lettuce to the bottom half of bun and top with burger. Place bun top on top. Also great served with cheese such as feta or cotija.
for the yogurt sauce
  1. Simply mix yogurt, cumin, onion powder, and salt together in a small bowl and set aside.
