Ball of Comfort: Local Savour Meatballs with Cream Sauce

Local Savour Meatballs with Cream Sauce

There are some days, some more than others , that we all seek a little more comfort in our lives. This past Monday was one of those days. It didn’t matter what was happening personally because it quickly came to a halt and all eyes, ears and hearts were on the smoke and flamed filled marathon in Boston. Amongst the thousands of people participating in the great run along with friends and family cheering in the audience and offering water there happen to be well over 200 people from Austin in attendance. I have never had the desire to run a marathon (isn’t that what delivering babies is anyway?) but I sure know a lot of them and I applaud anyone who has the will and stamina to train, run and cross that finish line – it takes a lot of dedication and strength. My heart goes out to not only the entire city of Boston and everyone involved but to our country as a whole.

My oldest son asked me, “Why are the flags at half-mast?” I didn’t really know what to say nor did I have an answer other than … “Some people got hurt and when that happens they are recognized and remembered with the signal from our flag” … oh, parenting can be dang hard sometimes … jeez. During moments like these I seek solace in extra hugs from my kiddos and heart-warming comfort food such as Local Savour Meatballs with Cream Sauce. Easy to make and loved by adults and kids –– rich and creamy sauce drizzled over slow-cooked, hearty meatballs served alongside a fresh spring salad or vegetables makes for a great meal to bring everyone together at the table and just be. Hugs to you, your families and especially all of those in Boston.
