Confituras Salted Caramel Pear Butter…should be illegal

Confituras Salted Caramel Pear Butter

I will be the first to admit, I have canning, jarring and pickling envy! My first attempt at this venture will be in the coming weeks, as I plan to do something with my plethora of backyard jalapenos…jalapeno jelly, anyone? Details coming soon…It’s (in my opinion) a true art to can, jar or pickle a good jelly, preserve, fruit or vegetable, the right way, and to be able to do it consistently.

Lucky, for us, there’s the Cosmic Cowgirl, aka Stephanie McClenny, and her newly launched Confituras (Spanish for preserves) product line to the rescue. Sweetly packaged – for great gift giving to friends and family or to simply enjoy from the comforts of your own home. These little jars are loaded with uniquely paired and interesting combinations of local, seasonal flavors with mouthwatering, dream-about results. With options such as Confituras Lavender Peach Butter; Heirloom Tomato Preserves; Carrot Cake Jam; Ginger Pear Preserves; Texas Pear, Vanilla Bean and Elderflower Confit to name a few and a price point of $4-$8 you are sure to pick up several just to have on hand. My new favorite? Salted Caramel Pear Butter (pictured) – I enjoyed this one so much that I included it in a Local Savour pancake recipe.

Confituras products are available at the Barton Creek Farmers’ Market, SFC Farmers’ Market, Antonelli’s Cheese Shop, Breed & Co., Farmhouse Delivery, Le Boite or through the Confituras website. After a smattering of samples, I am left wanting for more and eagerly looking forward to see what the new season will bring for Confituras and it’s sublime collection of preserves.
